Mommy and Me
Mommy and Me is an interactive class where children and parents can discover the joy of movement. We believe a child’s (and parent’s) first experience with dance should make a positive and lasting impression. Children learn about movement, build coordination, grow their strength, and experience the joy of dance.
Classes are available for children ages 0-2 and parents or caregiver.

Pre-Ballet I & II
Pre-Ballet I & II provides children age 3-6 developmentally appropriate ballet instruction. This introduction to ballet lays the foundation for our higher-level curriculums. These classes introduce beginning technique, vocabulary, coordination, strength, and musicality, as well as introducing traditional ballet class etiquette that builds a love and respect for the classical style.
Tap/Jazz Combo I & II and Jazz/Hip Hop II introduces children to the basic steps of Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop. These classes promote musicality, coordination, and rhythm, as well as sequencing, patterning, and spatial relationships.

Level 1
Level 1 Ballet, Jazz, and Lyrical/Contemporary classes offered during Summer Session II are designed for students turning 7 by 9/1/2026 who will be advancing from Pre-Ballet II to Level 1 for the 2026–2027 school year that are not yet qualified to take Level A Summer Intensive classes or Level 1 classes in June. These classes provide a foundational bridge for dancers preparing to meet the demands of more structured and rigorous training. Dancers who have completed a year of Level 1 are encouraged to take Level A Summer Intensive, but may also take these classes.
For students aspiring to join Hinsdale Dance Project or Junior Company out of Pre-Ballet II, participation in these classes is essential, offering an opportunity to acclimate to higher-level technique, discipline, and performance expectations. Summer Session II serves as an ideal introduction to the next stage of dance training at HDA, equipping young dancers with the skills, confidence, and artistry necessary for success in the coming year.

At HDA, ballet is for everyone, no matter your age or experience. Our adult ballet classes help build strength, balance, and flexibility, improve posture and poise, boost mental focus, and promote overall well-being and confidence.
Pair your adult ballet class with a stretch/strengthening class to build even more strength and flexibility with a Pilates-based class tailored specifically for dancers. HDA also offers a basic pointe class for adults, available to intermediate level dancers. All pointe dancers must be approved by the director to ensure each student has the proper ankle strength and mobility to avoid injury.
Whether you’re returning to dance or trying it for the first time, HDA offers a welcoming, inspiring environment to move, grow, and shine.

YCP Summer Camps are designed for dancers ages 3-6 (as of 9/1/2026) and include a ballet technique class, a jazz technique class, choreographed routines and crafts that follow the theme of each week.
These camps are perfect for aspiring little dancers that want to experience dance technique blended with some of their favorite movies, songs and characters.

K-Pop Demon Hunters

Dancers are invited to jump into the action-packed world of K-Pop Demon Hunters, where every day is a new mission! Campers will train like heroes with a ballet technique class, power up in a jazz technique class, and learn high-energy, K-pop inspired choreography that’s bold, fierce, and fun. Along the way, dancers will enjoy themed crafts that bring the adventure to life. This camp is perfect for young dancers who love big moves, brave characters, and epic stories while blending dance technique with music, imagination, and hero-worthy excitement.

Young dancers will step into the spellbinding world of the Wicked movie, where magic swirls and stories come to life. Inspired by the journey of Elphaba and Glinda, campers will explore themes of friendship, confidence, and discovering their own special sparkle. Each day is filled with wonder as dancers enjoy a ballet technique class, a jazz technique class, expressive movie-inspired choreography, and imaginative themed crafts that bring the Land of Oz to life. This camp is perfect for little dancers who love music, imagination, and storytelling while blending foundational dance technique with the enchantment of movie magic.

Each camp is filled with magic and movement, featuring a ballet technique class, a jazz technique class, and bright, upbeat pop choreography inspired by different musical styles and eras. These camps are perfect for little dancers who love to perform, move with confidence, and dance their hearts out to feel-good music while blending foundational technique with sparkle, storytelling, and superstar fun.

Summer Intensives are designed for serious and dedicated dancers Ages 8 (by 9/1/2026) and up seeking a rigorous, immersive training experience.
This program offers multiple hours of focused instruction for students committed to accelerating their technical growth and reaching their highest potential. With a strong emphasis on classical dance training, summer intensives are ideal for dancers aspiring to excel in performances, competitions, and advanced study. Training is led by the award-winning faculty of Hinsdale Dance Academy, alongside esteemed guest instructors who are pioneers in the dance industry, providing dancers with exceptional mentorship and a well-rounded educational experience.
To ensure individualized attention and the highest standard of instruction, each level is limited to 15 dancers per week. Classes are offered July 6–July 31. While dancers are strongly encouraged to participate in the full four-week program for maximum growth, weekly and hourly (drop-in) options are also available.

HDA is honored to welcome distinguished guest instructors each summer to enrich our dancers’ artistic and technicalgrowth. Collaborating closely with our award-winning faculty, these accomplished professionals offer invaluable insight, mentorship, and industry perspective. Their guidance not only elevates the training experience but also fosters meaningful connections, thoughtfully bridging the transition from rigorous pre-professional study to professional opportunities when the time is right.
Ansley Pierce began her training at Hinsdale Dance Academy, then attended the same conservatory as HDA founder and director, Jennifer Grapes Croughan. At UMKC, Ansley trained under Paula Weber, Ron Tice (former dancer with The Zurich Opera-Ballet, The Grand Theatre of Geneva, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The North Carolina Dance Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, American Ballet Theatre), DeeAnna Hiett (former dancer with Alvin Ailey), Garry Abbott (co-founder of Deeply Rooted), Tobin James (trained by Martha Graham), and David Justin (former dancer with Royal Birmingham Ballet). Ansley’s training includes a strong classical ballet foundation and modern repertoires of Horton, Graham, Limone, and the Cunningham style and choreography teachings. After two years at UMKC, Ansley transferred to Northern Illinois University School of Theatre and Dance. Here, she trained under Judith Chitwood (former dancer with Cincinnati Ballet), Paula Frasz (founder of Dance Loop Chicago), Marc Macaranas (founding dancer of DanceWorks Chicago), Jennifer Grund (former dancer with Dayton Ballet), and Rich Grund (former dancer with Dayton Ballet and Joffrey Ballet faculty member). In college, Ansley studied pedagogy for ballet and modern, dance history, anatomy, improv, pas de deux, variations, analysis of movement, Jazz, Pilates, and choreography. Ansley has performed many soloist and principal roles, including An American in Paris, Pas de Deux; PHANTOM, by Marc Macaranas; Sea Songs by Paula Frasz; Carmina Burana, restaged by Paula Frasz; Carmen, by Septime Weber, restaged by Rich Grund; The Three Fates, by Ron Tice; as well as numerous works by student choreographers. Through her variety of performance experiences and varied coursework, Ansley discovered a love for choreography. Notably in her first year at NIU, she was the first-ever recipient of the Jerry Tulk Choreography Award and Scholarship. Ansley is thrilled to return to HDA to share her expertise and professional experience.
Isaac Sharratt began his ballet training in Tucson, Arizona, training first at Tucson Regional Ballet and then moving his training to Ballet Tucson in 2004. He was awarded scholarships to attend several summer intensive programs including; San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Milwaukee Ballet. Mr. Sharratt rose from Ballet Tucson’s academy into the company at the age of 16, where he spent three more years with Ballet Tucson as a company member. He performed the lead in Anthony Tudor’s “Little Improvisations”, as well as performing Tudor’s Continuo. He worked closely with ballet superstars John Gardner and Amanda McKerrow, as well as renowned Jeffery Graham Hughs, Pamela Raymond, and Lawrence Peck. He moved from Ballet Tucson in 2008 to join the Milwaukee Ballet II program, spending only one year in the program before being asked into the company. During his ten years with Milwaukee Ballet, Mr. Sharratt was cast in several world premiere full-length ballets by Michael Pink, doing lead roles in many and playing the title role in Michael Pink’s Beauty and the Beast. Over his time in Milwaukee Ballet Mr. Sharratt performed many restagings and has had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographers such as Trey McIntyre, Mauro de Candia, Tim O’Donnel, Val Caniparoli, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Mark Godden, Amy Seiwert, Septime Webber, Matthew Neenan, Ann Reinking, Frank Chaves, and many more. Most recently Mr. Sharratt danced with American Midwest Ballet from its 2019-2022 seasons. During the company's digital series Mr. Sharratt was given the opportunity to perform Frank Chaves’ “If Only” with his wife, Jessica. Mr. Sharratt is also an aspiring choreographer, having set many pieces on Milwaukee Ballet’s second company and main company, beginning in 2009 and continuing steadily through his stay with the company. He was given the opportunity to choreograph on the main company most recently in 2018, as well as having choreographed on Ballet Minnesota in 2017, and various solos for both domestic and international competition use. Isaac has been a returning guest artist, teacher, and choreographer for HDA for 12 years.
Brazilian born Jessica Lopes began her professional ballet training in 2014 at Escola de Dança Alice Arja, until joining and graduating Miami City Ballet’s Pre-Professional Program in 2016. After her time in Miami she returned to Brazil and joined Cia de Ballet do Rio de Janeiro as a Corps de Ballet member. Jessica returned to the states in 2017 joining the Milwaukee Ballet 2 Program where she spent two seasons training and performing alongside their main company. During her time with Milwaukee’s second company Jessica had the opportunity to perform in ballets such as Michael Pink’s Swan Lake and Dracula, excerpts of August Bournonville’s “Napoli”, and Bruce Well’s “ A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, being featured in Corps de Ballet roles throughout those seasons and receiving soloist casting in Milwaukee Ballet’s “Genesis; Choreographic Competition” as well as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. In 2019 Jessica joined American Midwest ballet for three seasons, including a digital series during the lockdown where Mrs. Lopes had the pleasure to perform Frank Chavez's “If Only” with her husband, Isaac. Jessica has had the opportunity to work with many renowned choreographers during her training and career including; Aleix Mane Saez, Kathy Posin, Pam Tanowitz, Gerard Ebitz, Michael Pink, Timothy O’Donnell, and many more. Jessica is currently a professional dancer with Minnesota Ballet, while with Minnesota ballet Mrs. Lopes has been featured as Princess Florine and Fairy of Courage (Finger Fairy) from Sleeping Beauty and contemporary works like Adam McKinney’s“Home Ablating Downstream” and Karl VonRabenau’s “Rinnovo”. Jessica has ben a returning guest teacher for HDA since 2022.
Originally from Ontario, Canada of American and Hungarian heritage, Attila began his dance training with several local dance schools near Toronto, Canada to subsequently move to New York City to attend the School of American Ballet on full scholarship. As an International Free Lance / Guest Artist, Attila has danced repertory by renowned choreographers George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Sir Kenneth McMillan, and Ohad Naharin. Attila’s unique career has allowed him to cross between the Ballet and Contemporary worlds of dance. His versatility has allowed him to dance with such companies as the Tokyo Ballet Company, Du Capital ballet of Toulouse France, Christopher Wheeldon’s Morphoses, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, and Rasta Thomas' Bad Boys of Dance. Attila has been affiliated with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company for nearly two decades, creating 9 new works together with the legendary modern master. Attila has been hailed as Lar Lubovtich’s “muse” during their time together and he has performed the iconic Concerto 622 duet all over the world. As an International Choreographer, Dance Educator and Repertoire Assistant, Attila has worked with companies such as Il Balleto di Roma, The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch, Florida State University, Canadian Dance Company, Alabama School of Fine Arts, La Scala, and the China National Ballet. In 2011 Attila partnered with legendary Prima Ballerina Alessandra Ferri for her return to the stage in “The Piano Upstairs”. The Dance/Play was produced by playwright John Weidman and starring Boyd Gaines. The tour culminated in Italy as part of the International Spoleto Festival. Since 2013, Attila created and appeared in Christopher Wheeldon’s original Broadway production of An American In Paris winning 4 Tony awards, 7 drama desk awards and 6 outer critic awards. Attila is also the recipient of the 2015 Outstanding Broadway Chorus award for An American in Paris. Currently Attila is Guest Master Faculty at the Rock School for Dance Education and a full time Jury member of the Universal Ballet Competition. Attila continues to create new work Internationally and is a proud Dance Educator to the current and upcoming performing Artists. Attila is owner of Studio Attila, an Interior Design and Production Company. Attila credits the following mentors for his Artistic journey; Lar Lubovtich, William Forsythe, Christopher Wheeldon, Kawasaki Etsuko, Rasta Thomas, Stanley Williams, Lawrence Rhodes, and Steven Caras.
Matthew began his ballet training in Norfolk, Virginia at Ballet Virginia International under the direction of Janina Boveand Suzanne Lownsbury Long. In 2014, after attending the summer intensive program at Orlando Ballet, he joined theOrlando Ballet School Academy under the direction of Dierdre Miles Burger. Matthew became a trainee the followingyear and then joined Orlando Ballet II the next year in 2017 under direction of Robert Hill. While dancing at OrlandoBallet Matthew had the opportunity to dance in original works by artistic director Robert Hill such as “The Firebird”,“Romeo & Juliet”, “Piano Concerto No.2”, Swan Lake and many more. From 2018-2020 Mathew was a company dancerwith San Diego Ballet directed by Javier Velasco. Some of Matthew’s highlights dancing with San Diego Ballet were Basilio in “Don Quixote Suite”, Bottom in “A Midsummer's Night Dream” as well as many leading roles and originalworks by Javier Velasco. From 2020-22 Matthew danced as a company dancer with Columbia City Ballet under direction of William Starrett ,where he performed various soloist and corps roles such as Renfield in “Dracula:Ballet with a bite”and the Jester in “Swan Lake”. For the 2022-23 season Matthew had the opportunity to dance with Ballet San Antonio under the direction of Sofiane Sylve as a corps de ballet dancer. A few highlights include the King of Hearts in Brian Enos’ “Alice in Wonderland” and a member of the corps for Houston Thomas’s “Pauline Project”. Matthew has also had the opportunity to work with various notable teachers, dancers, choreographers, ballet mistresses and directors such as Susan Jones, Val Caniparoli, and Michael Pink, Lydia Roberts Coco, Lorraine Graves, Olivier Munoz, Julio Bocca, Kim Marsh, Yan Chen, Joseph Gatti, Adiarys Almeida and Joseph Phillips. Matthew has been a guest dancer with Hinsdale Dance Academy for the last two seasons and is delighted to collaborate further with our dancers.
